It was my first time in Dallas, Texas so I was excited for everything. I did not have any expectations which I think was a good thing. I will divide this article into small segments of arts that stood out for me.
Accommodation
There are pretty cool places to stay – I am not sure if this comes with the long weekend celebration. I was not part of the logistics so I do not have all the details that went into booking the Airbnb; however I can point out that the house was amazing.
lt is located in Plano-Constitution Dr; probably there are other similar Airbnbs in that area. It was big, clean and well equipped; several rooms, bathrooms etc – the host even left a tripod for anyone who was recording anything (I used it 🙂 ).

The neighbourhood looked and felt safe. It was close to most amenities i.e. hangout joints. Despite the party mode- I felt the neighbours were pretty accommodative and did not complain of any noise.
Entertainment

I learnt that during Memorial Weekend there are chances of having several African concerts taking place, so you’re in luck if you happen to be in town. Sauti Sol just happened to be in town the week leading to the weekend.
There are several joints that are East-African joints in the area. I happened to have gone to Rafikiz- where Harmonize, Tanzanian artist performed and African Fusion who’s DJs were popular back home. So if you’re lucky you might just meet your favourite stars.
Food

Most of the foods that I ate were home cooked meals but I cannot fail to note the delicious servings from the food trucks. They served variety from ice cream to empanada which was actually my first time having it and I liked it.
Parks
During our stay we happened to switch accommodation and ended up at The Hall Arts hotel. just like the airbnb this too was at a great secure location. We decided to take a walk around and ended up at a nearby park, Klyde Warren Park.

This is a great place for family and friends to hang out. it has lots of kids’ activities from climbing to playing with water. Adults too come to play table tennis and freeze bees. This is where the food trucks are located as well. They have tables and chair to sit around as you eat and just chill.
There’s a cathedral and a Baptist church near the Hall Arts hotel for your worship needs or even just to visit. We witnessed a wedding ceremony that had just ended when we passed by the cathedral.
Kenyan community
Apart from South Korea, I think this is the next place that I have found a large Kenyan/African hang out joints. My social bubble was really happy to sing and dance to Swahili songs, I met really cool people and I would honestly recommend and visit Dallas again.

Can I simply say what a comfort to find someone who truly understands what theyre discussing online. You actually understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. A lot more people have to look at this and understand this side of the story. I was surprised you arent more popular because you certainly have the gift.
